Sorghum was a big part of African history because various types were grown both for human and for animal consumption. It's popularity dropped over time and although it's still eaten nowadays, the amount of it is nowhere near to where it was during the Bantu migrations and developing African settlements in history.
I believe when you say suffrage you are referring to the right to vote, so that means that the aristocrats had less power than before. Hope this helps :)
