In his Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle (384-322 B.C.E.) describes the happy life intended for man by nature as one lived in accordance with virtue, and, in his Politics, he describes the role that politics and the political community must play in bringing about the virtuous life in the citizenry.

The Politics also provides analysis of the kinds of political community that existed in his time and shows where and how these cities fall short of the ideal community of virtuous citizens.

Although in some ways we have clearly moved beyond his thought (for example, his belief in the inferiority of women and his approval of slavery in at least some circumstances), there remains much in Aristotle’s philosophy that is valuable today.

Murrr4er [49]

According to a different source, this question refers to Roosevelt's first inaugural address, which was delivered on March 4, 1933.

There are several reasons why Roosevelt's speech was a big success. First, this was delivered at the height of the Great Depression, so many people were looking forward to hearing what Roosevelt had to say.

Roosevelt also used several rhetorical devices that made the speech memorable and effective. For example, he used paradox when he said that <em>"the only thing we have to fear is...fear itself."</em> He also used pathos when he appealed to the audience's feelings, by saying <em>"nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance." </em>Roosevelt also employed logos when he said that <em>"The measure of the restoration lies in the extent to which we apply social values more noble than mere monetary profit."</em>

All of these devices, as well as the vivid language he employs, make this speech a persuasive and powerful one.

Words that modify or limit verbs adjectives and other adverbs are
Vlad1618 [11]

Answer:

These are referred to as <u>adverbs.</u> Adverbs are words that modify a sentence, and often end with a prefix of <em>ly-</em>. For example, "I walk to the park slowly". That sentence has an adverb, <em>slowly</em>, which modifies the sentence so we know that the writer is slowly walking to the park. Now, without that adverb, we would not know that the writer is slowly walking to the park, we would just know they are walking to the park. That is how adverbs modify sentences.
