Answer:

1 - Pectoral girdle

2 - They are composed of cartilage

3 - The basketball player probably has larger vertebrae in the spinal column.

4 - clavicle

5 - consists of three parts: the manubrium, the body (gladiolus) and the xiphoid process.

Explanation:

1. In adults there are total 206 bones and are categorized into axial skeleton and appendicular skeleton bones. Vertebral bones, skull bones, sternum and ribs are part of axial skeleton. Pectoral girdle and pelvic girdle are part of appendicular skeleton.

2. Fontanels are soft spots found between the skull bones at the time of birth. They aren't composed of cartilage. We can say that the sutures between the skull bones are intersected by fontanels.

3. Since the basket ball player is two feet taller we can say that he has larger vertebrae in the spinal column

4. Thoracic cage is formed by thoracic vertebrae, ribs, sternum and coastal cartilage. It encloses the lungs and heart in thoracic cavity. Clavicle is not a part of it. Pectoral girdle consists of the clavicle the collar bone.

5. Sternum is a flat bone on the ventral side of the thoracic region. It consists of three parts. The superior part is called manubrium, the middle part is called body and the inferior part is called xiphoid process.

In the normal course of evolution and adaptation, what is the most likely way for wings to develop in a tetrapod (four-limbed or
serious [3.7K]

The correct option is this: The forelimbs (or possibly hind limbs) will be used for the new purpose of flight. This new function will arise through many gradual steps, and there will be aspects of the wing that reflect its history and are not perfectly suited for flight.

Adaptation refers to the physical or behavioral traits that an organism develop in order to enhance its suitability to its environment. Evolution on the other hand is always brought about by natural selection; organisms that are well adapted to their environments are naturally selected to survive, reproduce and pass their beneficial traits to their offspring. This is a gradual process that occurs over a long period of time.

For wings to develop in a four limbed organism, the organism has to start using the hind or the fore limbs for flight (New adaptive behavior). The genes that support this new behavior will be passed to its offspring and subsequent generations over a long period of time, until the wings are perfectly suited for flight.

10. Cloud droplets form and grow as water vapor condenses onto hygro-
Natali [406]

Answer:

According to collision- coalescence theory, formation of raindrop from cloud droplets occurs when cloud droplets collide and coalesce or stick together.

Explanation:

  • The only significant difference between a raindrop and a cloud droplet is that a raindrop consist of a velocity that is non-negligible during the fall.
  • Larger droplets having higher terminal velocities fall faster and collide with smaller droplets. Often the cloud droplets stick together and coalesce to form a larger droplet.
  • This starts a chain reaction where these bigger droplets fall even rapidly, collide with the other droplets in their path and merge with these droplets.

(03.05 MC) In which of the following ways is DNA replication different from DNA transcription? (2 points) New cells can only be
timama [110]
We presented with several statements after the question. Only one of these statements are correct.

DNA replication is the process in which a single strand of DNA, acting as the parent strand, forms two new strands of DNA. DNA transcription is the process of copying the information of the DNA strand and delivering this information into a strand of mRNA. These processes may sound similar, but there are key differences. We must look at the building blocks of DNA and RNA. Both structures are composed of four different bases, however, only three of these bases are shared between structures and they each have a unique fourth base. In DNA, the fourth base is thymine and it is uracil in RNA. We already established that DNA replication forms new strands of DNA, which would use thymine by default. DNA transcription results in formation of mRNA which would therefore use uracil.

The correct statement from the choices provided is the following:

Thymine is used in replication while uracil is used in transcription.
