Formula
Area = (B1 + B2)*h/2
Area = 72 in²
B1 = x
B2 = x +6
h = 6 in

Substitute and Solve
Area = (x + 6 + x)*6/2  = 72 Divide by 2
Area = (2x + 6)*3 = 72 Remove the brackets
Area = 6x + 18 = 72 Subtract 18
6x = 72 - 18
6x = 66 Divide by 6
x = 66/6
x = 11

B1 and B2
Base 1 = 6
Base 2 = 12

Let x in be the length of smaller base, then greater base has length x+6 in. The midline of trapezoid is

\dfrac{x+x+6}{2}=\dfrac{2x+6}{2}=x+3.

You can find the area of trapezoid using formula

A=\text{midline}\cdot \text{height}.

Then

72=(x+3)\cdot 6,\\ \\x+3=\dfrac{72}{6},\\ \\x+3=12,\\ \\x=12-3,\\ \\x=9\ in.

Answer: the smaller base has length x=9 in and the greater base has length x+6=9+6=15 in.

Solve each system of equation for 3y+x=3 and -2y+5x=15
madam [21]

Answer:

<em>x = 3 and y = 0</em>

Step-by-step explanation:

3y+x=3

-2y+5x=15

Isolate y in 3y + x = 3 :

y= \frac{3-x}{3}

Substitute y = \frac{3-x}{3}  in -2y + 5x = 15 :

-2 * \frac{3-x}{3} + 5x = 15

Simplify the equation :

\frac{-6+17x}{3} =15

Isolate x in \frac{-6 + 17x}{3} = 15 :

Proving x = 3

Isolate y in y = \frac{3-3}{3} :

Proving y = 0

Your solved system of equations are x being 3, and y being 0.

Find the measure of angle C of a triangle ABC, if: d m∠A = 60°+α, m∠B = 60°−α
snow_lady [41]

Answer:

m∠C  =  60°

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that sum of angles of a traingle is 18 degrees.

given

m∠A = 60°+α,

m∠B = 60°−α

we have to find  m∠C

m∠A + m∠B +  m∠C = 180

60°+α +  60° - α +m∠C = 180

+α and -α gets cancelled

120°+m∠C = 180

=> m∠C  =  180° -  120° =  60°

Thus, measure of angle c is  60°.

One of the roots of the equation 3x^2+7x−q=0 is −5. Find the other root and q.
statuscvo [17]

Answer: The answer is \textup{The other root is }\dfrac{8}{3}~\textup{and}q=40.Step-by-step explanation: The given quadratic equation is[tex]3x^2+7x-q=0\\\\\Rightarrow x^2-\dfrac{7}{3}x-\dfrac{q}{3}=0.

Also given that -5 is one of the roots, we are to find the other root and the value of 'q'.

Let the other root of the equation be 'p'. So, we have

p-5=-\dfrac{7}{3}\\\\\\\Rightarrow p=5-\dfrac{7}{3}\\\\\\\Rightarrow p=\dfrac{8}{3},

and

p\times(-5)=-\dfrac{q}{3}\\\\\\\Rightarrow \dfrac{8}{3}\times 5=\dfrac{q}{3}\\\\\\\Rightarrow q=40.

Thus, the other root is \dfrac{8}{3} and the value of 'q' is 40.
