The Byzantine Empire was originally a Roman colony known as Byzantium, and after the Romans got sacked by Barbarians, it was the last part of Rome that existed. It became its own empire since 330 AD.
Congress required Southern states to draft new constitutions guaranteeing African-American men the right to vote. The constitutions also had to ratify the Fourteenth Amendment, which granted African Americans equal protection under the law.
The most famous is Paul Revere - who worked as a messenger and warned the colonists of an impending British attack. His dedication to patriotism reflected in the growing sense of democratic ideals.
