To explain my answer I will give an example:

In the sea, producers such as microscopic organisms such as fito plancton and zoo plancton feed from the sun. The start the food chain. They are eaten by small fish. These eaten by larger fish until finally, big organisms such as a whale dies and the decomposers of the ocean are in charge of decomposing this material. Then the cycle starts again.

In this example, the flow of energy is shown. It is shown how energy is transformed. Also, the predatory - prey relationships are constantly occuring thoroughout the food chain.
