Serena is a research student who has conducted an experiment on the discoloration of marble. Read about Serena’s experiment. The

n identify two flaws in her experiment’s design.Serena sees an article about the Taj Mahal, a medieval marble monument in India. She reads that the white monument is beginning to turn a dull yellow-brown. Serena admires the Taj Mahal and is eager to learn what might be causing the yellowing. She formulates a hypothesis that the yellow-brown tinge may be caused by air pollution from black carbon, brown carbon, or methane, combined with wind erosion. To test her hypothesis, she decides to study the effects of these air pollutants and wind on white marble. She finds three identical pieces of white marble and exposes one of them to air containing black carbon, one to air with brown carbon, and one to air with methane. She also places a fan on two of the samples, varying the speed of the air stream in regular intervals. After a few days, the marble samples begin changing color, becoming grayish. Serena learns that air pollution caused the discoloration. However, she is not sure how it became gray instead of yellow and what exactly caused the discoloration.

She did not have a control group, and she did not expose all three samples to wind. Because her hypothesis was a combination of things, she needed to test the different combinations.

There was no control group, serena did not expose all the samples to the same conditions of wind or atmosphere.

Why is thermal energy from the Sun transferred to Earth through electromagnetic waves instead of any other type of thermal energ
liq [111]

Answer:

Because electromagnetic waves can travel through empty space

Explanation:

The energy that is emitted from the sun is transferred to the earth in the form of radioactive waves. These waves are originated due to the vibration between the electric and magnetic fields. As this energy reaches the earth, it warms the earth's atmosphere, resulting in the transfer of heat energy in three possible ways namely the conduction, convection, and radiation.

This electromagnetic waves do not require any matter for the transmission of energy, and can easily travel in empty space from the core of the sun to the earth and other nearby planets. Whereas other types of waves cannot travel in space, so it is transferred in the form of electromagnetic waves only.

Calculate the work done by a force of 30 N in lifting a load of 2 kg to a height of 10 m (g = 10 m/s2)
Mars2501 [29]

Answer:

300 J

Explanation:

Given :

 1. Applied force = 30 N
 2. Mass = 2 kg
 3. Height = 10 m
 4. g = 10 m/s²

Work done by the force :

 • Work done = Force x Displacement
 • Work done = mg x h
 • Work done = 30 N x 10 m
 • Work done = 300 J

Note :

 • What you have calculated is the work done by gravitational force on the object (that too, incorrectly)
 • But in the end, it asks for work done by the force of 30N
 • Hence, the given answer ~
