Serena is a research student who has conducted an experiment on the discoloration of marble. Read about Serena’s experiment. The

n identify two flaws in her experiment’s design.Serena sees an article about the Taj Mahal, a medieval marble monument in India. She reads that the white monument is beginning to turn a dull yellow-brown. Serena admires the Taj Mahal and is eager to learn what might be causing the yellowing. She formulates a hypothesis that the yellow-brown tinge may be caused by air pollution from black carbon, brown carbon, or methane, combined with wind erosion.To test her hypothesis, she decides to study the effects of these air pollutants and wind on white marble. She finds three identical pieces of white marble and exposes one of them to air containing black carbon, one to air with brown carbon, and one to air with methane. She also places a fan on two of the samples, varying the speed of the air stream in regular intervals. After a few days, the marble samples begin changing color, becoming grayish. Serena learns that air pollution caused the discoloration. However, she is not sure how it became gray instead of yellow and what exactly caused the discoloration.

She did not have a control group, and she did not expose all three samples to wind. Because her hypothesis was a combination of things, she needed to test the different combinations.

There was no control group, serena did not expose all the samples to the same conditions of wind or atmosphere.

A cat chases a mouse across a 0.65 m high
lora16 [44]

Answer:

V = 7.5 m/s

Explanation:

Projectile motion is a two dimensional motion experienced by an object or particle that is subjected near the surface of the Earth and moves along a curved path under the influence of gravity only. The path followed by projectile motion is called projectile path.

As the cat followed the projectile path, and we know that in projectile motion the horizontal component of the velocity remains constant throughout its motion. So there is no acceleration along horizontal path.

Given data :

Height = y = 0.65 m

Horizontal distance = x = 2.7 m

Gravitational acceleration = g = 9.81 m/s²

Velocity when cat slid off the table = V = ?

As the cat slides off horizontally, So there is no vertical component of velocity or vertical component of velocity is zero.

Using 2nd equation of motion

y = 0.5 gt²

0.65 = 0.5*9.8*t²

t² = 0.1326

t = 0.36 s

Velocity when cat slid off the table = V = x / t

V = 2.7 / 0.36

V = 7.5 m/s

A small metal bead, labeled A, has a charge of 28 nC .It is touched to metal bead B, initially neutral, so that the two beads sh
Dmitry_Shevchenko [17]

Answer:

Explanation:

Let the charge on bead A be q nC  and the charge on bead B be 28nC - qnC

Force F between them

4.8\times10^{-4} = \frac{9\times10^9\times q\times(28-q)\times10^{-18}}{(5\times10^{-2})^2}

=120 x 10⁻⁸ = 9 x q(28 - q ) x 10⁻⁹

133.33 = 28q - q²

q²- 28q +133.33 = 0

It is a quadratic equation , which has two solution

q_A = 21.91 x 10⁻⁹C or q_B = 6.09 x 10⁻⁹ C

A plastic beach ball has radius 21.6 cm and mass 0.100 kg, not including the air inside. Assume the air density is 1.30 kg/m3 bo
vichka [17]

Answer: 0.1416 kg

Explanation:

Total Mass = Mass of beach ball + Mass of air inside

Mass of beach ball = 0.100 kg

Mass of air = density * volume

Density = 1.30 kg/m^3

Radius (r) = 21.6 cm = 0.216 m

Volume (sphere) = π * r^3 = π * (0.216)^3 = 0.032 m^3

Hence:

Mass of air = 1.30 * 0.032 = 0.0416 kg

Total Mass = 0.100 + 0.0416 = 0.1416 kg
