NEED HELP QUICK!!! Nicole works at the corporate headquarters for a major organization. Some days she feels as if she spends all

day in the elevator. Her office is on the middle floor. After working in her office for a couple of hours, she went up eight floors to meet with the human resource department to discuss her new promotion. She left that meeting and went up five floors to meet with stockholders. Following that meeting she went down nine floors for a reception in the private cafeteria. After that event, she went up seven floors to meet with her new boss. Finally, she went down thirty-two floors to the main entrance of the building, which is on the first floor, and out to meet a friend for dinner. How many floors does the building have? PLEASE ANSWER WITH EXPLANATION PLEASE, THANK YOU

The travels you have described are:

                                       (Middle floor) + 8 + 5 - 9 + 7 - 32

                                   =  (middle floor)  + 20 - 41

                                   =  (middle floor)  -  21  brought her to floor #1.

So                                   Middle floor  -  21  =  1

Add 21 to each side:    Middle floor  =  22

The building has (2 x middle floor)  =  44 floors.

What are the equations for this question? how do you answer it?
Digiron [165]
Because we are looking at money and amount there will be 2 sepret equations that can be solved using the Elimination or Substitution method.
$4,800=x18+y33 would be the first one that is dealing with money.
200=x+y

I personally find the substitution method easier but whatever you like could work. First things first, get Y alone in ONE equation, you can choose whatever one you want but I am going to use the bottom one cause it is the easiest.

200=x+y
-x -x subtract x from both sides
200-x=y. y is now alone making it easy to switch the equation
y=200-x this equation is the value of y

Now plug in the value of y in the top equation,

4,800=x18+33(200-x) now solve this equation

4,800=x18+6600-33x
4,800=-15x+6600
-6600. -6600
-2200=-15x. divide by -15
x=146.67

now since we have the x value we can plug it in to the bottom equation.

200=146.67+y
-146.67
y=53.33

these coordinates are the intersection point so it'll give ya the number.

hope this helped a little

What's the answer to this question
frutty [35]

Step-by-step explanation:

there are several things to be considered to solve this.

the strategy is to caucuses the volume of the full "box", and then to deduct the 3-dimensional triangle that is "cut off" from the oil.

then we know the volume of the pool.

next step is to calculate the volume of a "box" with the same layout but is only 20 cm deep.

then we know how much volume can be pumped out in 30 minutes.

and then we divide the whole volume by that small volume to see how many 30-minues units are needed to empty the whole pool.

and then we transform the 30- minutes units into actual minutes or hours.

so, let's begin :

the whole box's volume is

2×1×1.4 = 2.8 m³

the volume of the 3-D triangle we need to subtract is the area of the triangle × width of the pool (this pool width is the height of the 3-D triangle).

2×(1.4 - 0.6) × 1 / 2 = 2×0.8 × 1 / 2 = 1.6/2 = 0.8 m³

so, the volume of the pool is

2.8 - 0.8 = 2 m³

now, how much volume can the pump eliminate in 30 minutes ?

the content of a box

1×2×0.2 = 0.4 m³

as 20 cm = 0.2 m

so, the pump pumps out 0.4 m³ in 30 minutes.

and we need to empty 2 m³.

that means we need

2 / 0.4 = 5

30-minues units = 5×30 = 150 minutes = 2.5 hours.

Colin has to wait 2.5 hours (150 minutes) to empty the complete pool.
