Answer:

Shipped large amounts of opium into China at a massive profit.

Explanation:

During the 18th and 19th centuries, Western countries (particularly Great Britain) exported opium grown in India and sold it to China. This was done in order to increase British profits. The profits were then used to purchase Chinese luxury goods such as porcelain, silk and tea. This trade led to the rise of opium addiction in China, becoming an enormous problem in the country. The efforts of the Qing dynasty to enforce opium restrictions resulted in what is known as the Opium Wars, both of which China lost.

lys-0071 [83]

Answer:

Treaty of Versailles and President Wilson's 14th points.

Explanation:

Both the Treaty of Versailles and 14th points are somewhat related as they both deals with Germany. Both tried to punish Germany because of the First World War which bought deaths and destruction.

Both wanted the return of Alsace Lorraine to France.

The 14th Points by President Wilson were less harsh than the Treaty of Versailles which was imposed by Allied powers with France, Britain, etc.

The 14 points are mainly to establish countries independence in Europe with peace. The treaty focuses on punishing the Germans by putting the blame and reparation terms.

How did social darwinism explain how society operates?
Savatey [412]
Social Darwinism explained the operation of society as "survival of the fittest."

People often associate the term "survival of the fittest" with Charles Darwin, but actually it was terminology that came from Herbert Spencer, the founder of what is known as Social Darwinism. (Spencer wouldn't have called it that - he and Darwin were rivals.)   Darwin used the term "natural selection" in his descriptions of biological evolution.  Spencer was unafraid to apply the same concepts to competition within the human species, contending that the stronger, fitter social or cultural groups will survive better than others and dominate over weaker groups.
