I believe the answer is: An investor makes money by earning interest.

When an agreement to borrow a certain amount of money is created, the borrower would receive the requested amount of money at the time that specified in the contract. (most likely used as capital to fund their business or to buy necessities).

In return, the borrower has to payback the money to the lender gradually, in a higher amount than he borrowed. The difference between the money borrowed and the money paid back is what's called as interest by the investors.

The individual investor buys bonds directly, with the aim of holding them until they mature in order to profit from the interest they earn. They may also buy into a bond mutual fund or a bond exchange-traded fund (ETF). ... But its price also is a bet on the direction of interest rates

valentina_108 [34]

Answer/Explanation:

An irrigation system represents a stable food supply because it is how they controlled water to be able to plant crops. Agriculture produced enough food that people became free to pursue interests other than worrying about what they were going to eat that day.
