A spinner with 3 sectors is shown in the figure below. The measures of the central angles of the red, white, and blue sectors, i

n that order, are in the ratio 2:3:4. If the spinner is fair, what is the probability that the arrow stops in the red sector?
(Note: Assume the arrow stops in a sector and not on a line.)

Given that a spinner with 3 sectors. The measures of the central angles of the red, white, and blue sectors, in that order, are in the ratio 2:3:4.

So we can write:

Measure of the central angle of the red sector = 2x

Measure of the central angle of the white sector = 3x

Measure of the central angle of the blue sector = 4x

We know that sum of central angle of the circle is 360 degree so the sum of above three angles will also be 360 degree

2x+3x+4x=360

9x=360

x=40

Then measure of the central angle of the red sector = 2x=2*40= 80 degree

Measure of the central angle of the white sector = 3x=3*40=120 degree

Measure of the central angle of the blue sector = 4x=4*40=160 degree

We have to find the probability for red sector so first we need to find are of the red sector which is given by formula :

Area = \frac{\pi r^2 \theta}{360} , where r is the radius of the spinner.

Area = \frac{\pi r^2 *80}{360}

Area = \frac{2 \pi r^2}{9}

Area of the spinner is circular so that is given by

Area of spinner = \pi r^2

Now the  probability that the arrow stops in the red sector is given by ratio or area of red sector and the area of spinner

Probability = \frac{\frac{2}{9}\pi r^2}{\pi r^2}

Probability = \frac{\frac{2}{9}}{1}

Probability = \frac{2}{9}

Hence required probability is 2/9.

You went to the post office with 20 dollars.you mailed a package for 3.67. at most how many $.37 stamps could you buy
Kryger [21]
Count the remaining money after mailing a package
money left = 20 - 3.67
money left = 16.33

The remaining money is $16.33

Calculate the stamps you could buy
stamps = 16.33/0.37
stamps = 44.135
stamps = 44

At most you could buy 44 stamps

The equation Upper A left parenthesis t right parenthesis equals 2000 e Superscript 0.055 t gives the balance after t years of a
Pachacha [2.7K]

Answer:

a) Rate of change of amount

A'(t) =110e^{0.055t}

b) &170.79

c) 0.21

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given the following in the question:

The balance is given by the equation:

A(t) =- 2000e^{0.055t}

where t is the time in years and the initial investment is $2000 when compounded continuously.

a) Rate of change of amount

\dfrac{d(A(t))}{dt} = \dfrac{d}{dt}(2000e^{0.055t})\\\\\dfrac{d(A(t))}{dt} = 2000e^{0.055t}\times 0.055\\\\\dfrac{d(A(t))}{dt} =110e^{0.055t}

b) We have to find the value of A'(8)

A'(t) =110e^{0.055t}\\A'(8) = 110e^{0.055(8)} = 170.79

Interpretation:

The future value of 9 year investment of $2000 will be $170.79 more than the future value of 8 year investment.

c) Comparison

Approximation = $171

Actual change = $170.79

Difference =

\text{Approximation - Actual change}\\=171 - 170.79\\=0.21

Thus, the error is 0.21
