I don’t see any choices, but the answer should be f(x)=(3x-4)/5

What does it want? Does it just want the expression written without words?

swimming downstream you can swim 2 miles in 40 minutes, and upstream you can swim 2 miles in 60 minutes...how long will it take
Akimi4 [234]

Answer:

Vp = 1 / 24  miles/min   the speed in still water

Step-by-step explanation:

Lets call Vp speed of swimmer   and  Vw  speed of water then:

Downstream   Vp  +  Vw

Swimmer does  2 miles in 40 minutes then he does

1  mile  in  20 minutes

Upstream     Vp - Vw

Swimmer does  2 miles in 60 minutes then he does

1 mile in 30 minutes

We get the following system:

(Vp  +  Vw )* 20  = 1    (1)         and

( Vp -  Vw )* 30   = 1    (2)

Solving the system

From equation (1)

20*Vp  +  20* Vw  =  1       ⇒     Vw  =  ( 1 - 20*Vp ) /20

Plugging that value in the second equation

(Vp  - Vw )* 30  = 1      ⇒  [ Vp - ( 1 - 20*Vp )/20 ] * 30  = 1

[20*Vp - 1 + 20*Vp ] * 30/20 = 1     ⇒ [ 40*Vp - 1 ] *30  =  20     or

 [ 40*Vp - 1 ] *3 = 2

120* Vp  - 3  = 2     ⇒   120*Vp  =  5   and   Vw  = 1 /120 miles/min

Vp  =  5 / 120 miles/min    or

Vp = 1 / 24  miles/min

and speed of water   Vw  =  1 / 120

How do u measure with a protractor
Zarrin [17]
1. Approximate the measure of your angle. Angles can be categorized in three ways: acute, obtuse, and right. Acute angles are less than 90 degrees, obtuse angles are greater than 90 degrees, and right angles are exactly 90 degrees.

2. Place the origin over the center point, or vertex, of the angle you want to measure. The small hole in the middle of the protractor is the origin. Put the vertex of the angle with the center of the cross in the origin.

3. Rotate the protractor to line up one leg of the angle with the baseline. Maintain the vertex of the angle in the origin and rotate the protractor so that one of the legs of the angle falls on the baseline of the protractor.<span>The baseline is even to the edge, but is not the flat edge of the protractor. It is lined up with the center of the origin and the line projects to the start of the scale on either side.

</span>4. Follow the opposite leg of the angle up to the measurements on the protractor's arc. If the line does not pass through the protractor’s arc, make the angle's line longer until it does. You can align the edge of a piece of paper with the angle’s leg to pass beyond the edge of the protractor, continuing the line of the angle. The number the line passes through is the angle's measurement in degrees. <span><span>

Frankie solved the math problem below. Find the error in Frankie's work and explain it in words, using math language. 2 1/3 - 1
HACTEHA [7]

Given:

The expression is

2\dfrac{1}{3}-1\dfrac{2}{5}

To find:

The error in Frankie's work.

Solution:

We need to simplify 2\dfrac{1}{3}-1\dfrac{2}{5}, so

2\dfrac{1}{3}=2\dfrac{1}{3}\times \dfrac{5}{5}

2\dfrac{1}{3}=2\dfrac{5}{15}

and,

1\dfrac{2}{5}=-1\dfrac{2}{5}\times \dfrac{3}{3}

1\dfrac{2}{5}=-1\dfrac{6}{15}

Now,

2\dfrac{1}{3}-1\dfrac{2}{5}=2\dfrac{5}{15}-1\dfrac{6}{15}

2\dfrac{1}{3}-1\dfrac{2}{5}=(2+\dfrac{5}{15})-(1+\dfrac{6}{15})

2\dfrac{1}{3}-1\dfrac{2}{5}=2+\dfrac{5}{15}-1-\dfrac{6}{15}

2\dfrac{1}{3}-1\dfrac{2}{5}=1-\dfrac{1}{15}

2\dfrac{1}{3}-1\dfrac{2}{5}=\dfrac{14}{15}

Therefore, there is error in Frankie's last step. In that step, he did not subtract the mixed fraction correctly.

The coach of the track and field team is putting together groups of runners to run relays. Each group will need to run a race th
andrew11 [14]

Answer:

16 runner

Step-by-step explanation:

It is given that,

Each group will need to run a race that is 1/2 of a mile long. Each runner has to run 1/8 of a mile in the race.

Let there are x no of runners. ATQ,

\dfrac{1}{8}x=\dfrac{1}{2}\\\\x=\dfrac{(1/2)}{(1/8)}\\\\x=16

So, there are 16 runner that are needed for each relay race group.
