For example, they made relics. A relic is an object that is historically interesting and has survived from an earlier period of time. The Medieval period was a dark period in the history of mankind. The only art that was allowed was religious art. These works of art were often relics from ancient times. The Renaissance, on the other hand, was a period of renewal, of light and of artistic freedom. Religious relics were still very important to the Renaissance people. They were often kept and revered by the wealthy people who could afford to pay for them.
