This problem is an example of ratio and proportion. A ratio is a comparison between two different things. You are given 4 months that have 30 days. You are required to get the ratio of the months with 30 days to the remaining months that have a different number of days. First, you will get the ratio as 4/30 = 2/15. Assuming that the other months also has 30 days. Then the second ratio is 8/30 = 4/15. Multiply 2/15 to 15/4 you will get ½. Other forms of this is 1:2 or 1 is to 2. The answer is B.

So find the amount of months that don't haave 30 days
12 months total
4 have 30 days
12-4=8
so the ratio of months that have 30 days to the months that do not havve 30 days is 4 to 8 or 4:8
this can be simplified like a fraction
4:8 4/8=1/2
ratio is
1 to 2, 1:2, 1/2

answer is B

What is the equation of the line with slope of ½ , and which passes through the point
Law Incorporation [45]

Answer:

y = 1/2x - 7

Step-by-step explanation:

slope intercept form:

y = mx + b

y = -5

m(slope) = 1/2

x = 4

y = mx + b

substitute

-5 = 1/2*4 + b

-5 = 2 + b

-5 - 2 = b

-7 = b

y = 1/2x - 7

What is the y value of the vertex 4x^2+8x-8
Oksana_A [137]

Answer:

The y-value of the vertex is -12

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

The equation of a vertical parabola into vertex form is equal to

f(x)=a(x-h)^{2}+k

where

(h,k) is the vertex of the parabola

In this problem we have

f(x)=4x^{2}+8x-8 -----> this a vertical parabola open upward

Convert to vertex form

Group terms that contain the same variable, and move the constant to the opposite side of the equation

f(x)+8=4x^{2}+8x

Factor the leading coefficient

f(x)+8=4(x^{2}+2x)

Complete the square. Remember to balance the equation by adding the same constants to each side

f(x)+8+4=4(x^{2}+2x+1)

f(x)+12=4(x^{2}+2x+1)

Rewrite as perfect squares

f(x)+12=4(x+1)^{2}

f(x)=4(x+1)^{2}-12

The vertex is the point (-1,-12)

The y-value of the vertex is -12
