B is probably the best answer. Naomi and Ruth came to Bethlehem and were poor because they were both widows, and due to the social structure of the time, would have either had to go get what they could left over by the harvesters or beg. As it was, she ended up trying to catch the leftovers of the harvest from a family member of her mother-in-law, who shared quite a bit with her. He didn't have to share, but the fact that he shared as much as he did showed both his kindness and the prosperity of the town.
