Explanation: the deadly illness arrived from southern asia is <em>measles</em>, and back in the time, there was any barrier that could stop it. This illness is a very contagious virus that causes high fever over 104 Fº, inflamed eyes, cough, runny nose, and a distinctive red rash that spreads all over the body. Even though now it can be treated and it lasts around 7 days, back in the day this virus killed millions of people. Most of the times the symptoms developed in something more complicated, like pneumonia, middle ear infections, diarrhea, and even inflammation of the brain and seizures.
