Their neutrality changed after the  Ocean Liner Lusitania was sunk by a German boat in 1915, killing almost 2,000 people including 128 Americans. <span>President Wilson ordered the Congress for a declaration of war against Germany.</span> On April 6, 1917, U.S officially participated in the war.
