Why did the us back off from its interventionist policy in latin america in the 1920s and after?
Ivenika [448]
One of the biggest reasons for America back off their interventionist policy in Latin America was the Stock Market Crash of 1929 and the ensuing Great Depression. Once the Great Depression hit America, the government was far more concerned with how to help American citizens and how to help the economy recover rather than focusing on Latin American countries.

Along with this, the United States's entrance into World War II in 1941 also redirected their attention. The US was more focused on helping the Allied powers win in the Pacific and European theater rather than focusing on Latin America.
