Ex: y=2x+4     <span>3x+y=9   <--Simply plug y into the second equation here and solve for x. When you find the solution for x, you can plug the solution to x into the 2nd equation to find y....Hope this helps!!!</span>

Find two positive numbers such that the sum of the first and twice the second is 56 and whose product is a maximum
Svetlanka [38]
Let
x-------> the first number
y-------> the second number
P-----> product

we know that
x+2y=56----------> 2y=56-x-----> y=28-0.5x------> equation 1
P=x*y----> equation 2

substitute equation 1 in equation 2
P=x*[28-0.5x]-----> P=28x-0.5x²

using a graph tool
see the attached figure
the vertex is the point (28,392)
that means
for x=28
the product is 392    (maximum)
find the value of y
y=28-0.5x----> y=28-0.5*28----> y=14

the answer is
the numbers are 28 and 14

PLEASE HELP ASAP!!!! 50 POINTS!!
Kamila [148]

Answer:

Hope this helps!!

Step-by-step explanation:

2ya and 2yb where a and b have no common factors and a and b are polynomaals

a=(x+2)(x+3)

b=(x+4)(x+5)

no common factors betwen a and b

so

2ya=2y(x+2)(x+3)=2yx²+10xy+12y

2yb=2y(x+4)(x+5)=2yx²+18xy+40y

the 2 polynomials  are  2yx²+18xy+40y and 2yx²+10xy+12y

I’m so confused. Need the help

1.621 kN

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the centerline of the canal be the x-axis. Because the forces exerted by the horses are symmetric to the centerline, only the x-components of these forces contribute to the resultant force on the barge, i.e., the y-components cancel out. Each x-component is equal to F_x = 839\cos 15 = 810.4 N. Therefore, the resultant force on the barge is twice this:

F_{net} = 2(839\:\text{N})\cos 15 = 1620.8\:\text{N}

= 1.621\:\text{kN}

Ranger says the expression is not in its simplest form. He thinks the two terms need to be combined. Is Ranger right that 8x − 2
Mrrafil [7]
Ranger is incorrect. The expression, 8x – 20, is in its simplest form because there are no parentheses and no like terms. The two terms cannot be combined because only one term has x as its variable.
