The tension is one of those forces. It is caused by the movement of the tectonic plates, more specifically when they move toward each other and collide.

As the tectonic plates collide, they push against each other. This results in lot of tension and stress on the crust. The tension manages to push up, bend, and crumble the crust, creating multiple physical features.

The anticlines are part of crust formations that have been bent by the tensions. As the tension has been influencing the crust, the crust started to bend, in a process similar to that of when a tablecloth is pushed on the table, taking in wavy shape.
