For Example 10 part b:

There are two ways he cycles to school :
1) he oversleeps then cycles
2)he doesn't oversleep and then cycles

P (oversleep then cycle) = 0.4 multiplied by 0.7
P (not oversleeping then cycle) = 0.6 multiplied my 0.1
add the answers
=      (0.4*0.7) + (0.6*0.1)

Hope that helps and answers the question :)

When a dividend greater than 1 is divided by a divisor less than 1, the quotient is
marysya [2.9K]

Answer:

Dividing by 1 gives a quotient equal to the dividend. When the divisor is less than 1, the quotient is larger than the dividend. Decreasing the divisor to 1/2 increases the quotient to 10 1/2 When the divisor is smaller than the dividend, the quotient is more than 1.

1)What is the mass of Nitrogen in NH3? (use two decimal places)
Mars2501 [29]

Answer:

1) The Mass of Nitrogen in NH_3 is 14.00 gm.

2) The Mass of Hydrogen in NH_3 is 3.00 gm.

3)The Molar Mass of NH_3 is 17.00 gm.

Step-by-step explanation:

Solving for Part 1.

In NH_3 that is Ammonia there is 1 atom of Nitrogen.

So the atomic mass of Nitrogen is same as the mass of Nitrogen in NH_3.

Atomic mass of Nitrogen = 14.00 gm

Hence The Mass of Nitrogen in NH_3 is 14.00 gm.

Solving for Part 2.

In NH_3 there are 3 atoms of Hydrogen.

Atomic mass of Hydrogen = 1.00 gm

So the mass of Hydrogen in NH_3 is 3 times of its atomic mass.

Mass of Hydrogen = 3 × Atomic mass of Hydrogen

Mass\ of\ Hydrogen =3\times1.00=3.00\ gm

Hence The Mass of Hydrogen in NH_3 is 3.00 gm.

Solving for Part 3.

In NH_3 there is 1 atom Nitrogen and 3 atoms of Hydrogen.

So molar mass is the sum of mass of nitrogen and mass of Hydrogen in NH_3.

Molar mass of NH_3=Mass of Nitrogen+Mass of Hydrogen

Molar\ mass\ of\ NH_3=14.00+3.00=17.00\ gm

Hence The Molar Mass of NH_3 is 17.00 gm.

Line passes through points (-1,-2) and (1,4). What is the equation of the line?
scoray [572]

Answer: y=3x+1

Step-by-step explanation:

First find slope using formula

m= y2–y1/x2–x1

m= 4– (—2)/ 1— (—1)

m= 3

So,

y= mx+b

y=3x+b. Using (1,4) plug into equation of a line

4= 3(1)+b

4 – 3= b

1= b. So,

y=3x+1
