The essay Nameless,Tennessee is a part of William Least Heat Moon's travel book Blue Highways: A Journey into America published in 1982 which tells of his journey through American back roads. In this part, Ginny and Thurmond Watts are two of maybe ninety people living in the community called Nameless. They are first described when the narrator approaches their store in order to ask the couple how this place got its name. After the narrator introduces the reader to these two people and they tell him the story of the town's unusual name, the inside of their store is described in a bit more detail. So it can be said that Ginny and Thurmond Watts are introduced to readers through the description of their store.
