1. The five Ks are a list of five items Sikhs have to wear all the time because of the Guru's order. These items are not just material possessions but they also mean a Sikh has a pure way of life, they create a sense of community (option e) and they represent the commitment to order (option b).

2. Tang and Song dynasties are known as a Golden Age of wealthy and stable periods for China. The Tang dynasty ruled for nearly 300 years (618–907) and used traditional Daoist ideas to strength the central government and support its unification. Similarly, the Song dynasty ruled for nearly 300 years (960–1279) and the beliefs of Confucianism were used a way to organize civil and politic life of the population.

3. A dragon cannon signifies the use of gunpowder artillery during the Song dynasty. Thus the right option is "c. Song technology".

Compare and contrast images of paradise versus calamity in Slaughterhouse-Five and explain the use of such contrasting images.
Nina [5.8K]

Slaughtehouse-Five has a very peculiar structure. Vonnegut's idea of time is reflected in it, it's not linear. As a result, there are a lot of contrasting images. An example of this is the contrast between the following Paradisiac image:

Under morphine, Billy had a dream of giraffes in a garden. The giraffes were following gravel paths (...) Billy was a giraffe, too (...) The giraffes accepted Billy as one of their own, as a harmless creature as preposterously specialized as themselves. Two approached him from opposite sides, leaned against him. They had long, muscular upper lips which they could shape like the bells of bugles. They kissed him with these. They were female giraffes-cream and lemon yellow.

With an quite calamitous image not too far from that part of the book:

Rosewater was twice as smart as Billy, but he and Billy were dealing with similar crises in similar ways. They had both found life meaningless, partly because of what they had seen in war. Rosewater, for instance, had shot a fourteen-year-old fireman, mistaking him for a German soldier (...) And Billy had seen the greatest massacre in European history, which was the firebombing of Dresden.

Why is the Silk Road a difficult concept to describe? It is not literally a silk road and it is more than just a simple trade ro
madreJ [45]
The Silk road was much more because it was the only way to connect to China and trade with them. Chinese people were inovators and were not just simple traders. Thanks to the Silk road Europeans could get silk and spices and fireworks and gunpowder and numerous other inventions that were not found anywhere else in the world. If it hadn't been for Silk road Europe would've been much less developed.
