The first known use of the term FEDERALIST is in 1774, At the time, it was used to indicate to one who was for the unification of the colonies. The word ANTI-FEDERALIST, however, does not  come out until more than 10 years later, when words developed their modern definition. The years surrounding the creation of these words represent a time of drastic evolution for the 13 colonies.
