I’m going to say

4. C because B is incorrect as well as D. and since I’ve read it and it isn’t Jolly then then C is correct

11. Ethan is experiencing a Man Vs. Self type of conflict. This is due to his feelings toward Mattie and Zeena’s jealousy. The result of his feelings toward Mattie is because she is Beautiful, full of energy, young and helpful. His feelings for Zeena have diminished because she is sick and no longer as young as Mattie is now. While Mattie is helping a sick Zeena around which is something Zeena did when Ethan’s own mother was sick as well.

12. Edith Wharton is a Framing Device. Using the beginning and end of Ethan Frome to set up a frame for her story

14. He is reminded of his endurance to his marriage with Zeena even though his marriage has not been as long as the other Ethan’s marriage. He also feels like he is stuck in a relationship he is eager to escape from. It also shows that Zeena plays more of an enduring role due to the actions of Ethan and her sister Mattie who are crippled now and it is Zeena who must take care of them.

***Please note that I’ve taken this Test myself and these were all correct xcept for #4 because I’d chosen D. superstitious and it was wrong

What would be the impact of replacing the word murdered in stanza 3 with the word drowned?

D) The stanza would be more informative.

Choice of words can change a poem's tone and mood. A more precise word can give either more power to the stanza or more information. In the case of replacing murdered with drowned, the impact would be that the reader will be captivated and have more specific and significant details about the child's murder.
