So 6x+x=861
7x=861
x=123
6(123)=738(Jacob)

Let Rebecca equal x and Jacob equal 6x.
6x + x = 861
7x = 861
Multiply both sides by the reciprocal of 7 which is 1/7.
(1/7)7x = 861(1/7)
x = 123
Since Rebecca equals x we know that she has 123 cards.  If we multiply this answer by 6 we get the number of cards Jacob has.
6(123) = 738
Therefore the final answer is:
Jacob = 738
Rebecca = 123
I hope this helps:)

A scientist needs 70 liters of a 40% solution of alcohol. He has a 30% and a 60% solution available. How many liters of the 30%
Yuri [45]
<h2>Hello!</h2>

The answer is:

There are needed 46.67 liters of the 30% solution and 23.33 liters of the 60% solution in order to make 70 liters of a 40% solution.

<h2>Why?</h2>

We can solve this problem creating a system of equations. Let's make the two equations that will help us to solve the problem.

From the statement we know that a solution of 70 liters of a 40% is needed, and there are two differents solutions available, of 30% and 60% and we need to use them to make 70 liters of a  40% solution, so:

So:

30(Percent)SolutionVolume=X\\60(Percent)SolutionVolume=Y

If both solutions will make a 70 liters solution, so the first equation will be:

x+y=70L

Let's work with real numbers converting the percent values into real numbers by dividing it into 100, so:

30(Percent)=\frac{30}{100}=0.3\\\\40(Percent)=\frac{40}{100}=0.4\\\\60(Percent)=\frac{60}{100}=0.6

Then, we know that both solutions will make 70 liters of a 40% solution, so the second equation will be:

0.30x+0.60y=0.4*70

Therefore, from the first equation we have:

x=70-y

Then, substituting x into the second equation to find y, we have:

0.30(70-y)+0.60y=28\\21-0.30y+0.60y=28\\0.3y=28-21\\y=\frac{7}{0.3}=23.33

Hence, substituting y into the first equation to find x, we have:

x=70-y=70-23.33=46.67

So, there are needed 46.67 liters of the 30% solution and 23.33 liters of the 60% solution in order to make 70 liters of a 40% solution.

Alison has been hired to sell two different homes on the same street that two houses apart. She predicts that Home A has a 75% c
Karolina [17]

Using conditional probability, it is found that there is a 0.2857 = 28.57% probability that house A does not sell given that house B does not sell due to it's poor condition.

Conditional Probability

P(B|A) = \frac{P(A \cap B)}{P(A)}

In which

P(B|A) is the probability of event B happening, given that A happened.

P(A \cap B) is the probability of both A and B happening.

P(A) is the probability of A happening.

In this problem:

  • Event A: House B does not sell.
  • Event B: House A does not sell.

Home B has a 30% probability of selling, so a 100 - 30 = 70% probability of <u>not selling</u>, hence P(A) = 0.7.

20% probability that <u>none</u> sells, hence P(A \cap B) = 0.2.

Then, the conditional probability is:

P(B|A) = \frac{P(A \cap B)}{P(A)} = \frac{0.2}{0.7} = 0.2857

0.2857 = 28.57% probability that house A does not sell given that house B does not sell due to it's poor condition.

Julie works at a pizza place in Phoenix. She receives a 15% discount on any pizza that she buys. If a large pizza costs $14.00,
Sladkaya [172]

Answer:

The final cost of her pizza is $11.90

Step-by-step explanation:

First we need to convert 15% into a decimal, which is 0.15.

Now we multiply $14 and 0.15.

$14 × 0.15 = $2.10.

Now we subtract $2.10 from $14.00.

$14.00 - $2.10 = $11.90
