f moths with white and grey forms lives in a forest containing trees with light and dark bark. wild cat populations gradually develop spots that allow them to be camouflaged in the dark forest. because bees prefer dark blue flowers, this color gradually becomes more dominant in a population of plants with a color ranging from light blue to dark blue. a population of plants develops all orange fruit instead of a mixture of yellow, red, and orange fruit, due to animals showing a preference for orange fruit?

Diversifying selection, describes changes in population genetics in which extreme values for a trait are favored over intermediate values. The variance of the trait increases and the population is divided into two distinct groups. In the above question an example of diversifying selection is A population of moths with white and grey forms lives in a forest containing trees with light and dark bark.

Why does the actions of the thymus demonstrate a close functional connection between the lymphatic system and the endocrine syst
OleMash [197]

Answer:

The Thymus is a unique gland which protects the body against autoimmunity when the immune system act against itself.Hence the Thymus plays a significant role the dual systems i.e.,the lymphatic system (body’s defensive mechanism) and the endocrine system

Explanation:

The Thymus is special gland located anteriorly to the chest directly behind the sternum and in between the lungs. Active until puberty and gradually shrinks to become fat after puberty.

Function: Prior to birth and during childhood thymus engage in producing and maturation of T-lymphocytes or T-cells a particular type of white blood cells which defence the body against infectious disease germs.Though the organ does not function throughout the life span but it plays a significant role protecting the body against autoimmunity refers to an immune system works against itself .Therefore the thymus plays a key role in lymphatic system and an endocrine system.

Secretion:Thymus secretes Thymosin a hormone it instigates the development of T-Cells ( disease resisting cells) Thymosin stimulates the development of T-Cells until a human attains its puberty. At the age of 75 thymus becomes a fatty tissue.

What role does the MutL protein play in DNA repair? (5 POINTS) It performs a proofreading function, similar to DNA polymerase, a
Zinaida [17]

Answer:

It recognizes and binds to a pair of "mismatched" nucleotides, preventing their translation.

Explanation:

Mut L protein is involved in mismatch DNA repair. MutL protein is complexed with MutS protein and the MutL-MutS complex recognizes all the mismatched base pairs present in the newly formed DNA strand. The complex can not recognize the "C-C" pairs. MutH protein joins the complex.

The MutH protein also has a site-specific endonuclease activity and cleaves the unmethylated DNA strand towards the 5' end of the guanine base in the GATC sequence to mark the strand for DNA repair. In this way, MutL protein, along with MutS and MutH proteins mark the mismatched DNA bases for repair so that they are not translated into a faulty protein.
