first distribute f into (x+h)

top: fx+fh-fx

simplify fx and - fx

that gives you:

$\frac{fh}{h}$

then you can get rid of the h since they are the same value

this leaves you with

$\frac{f}{1}$   - you can't put a zero in a fraction

$\frac{f}{1}$ is the answer
