In every war, there is always political and financial interest, and it's also sought to restore the honor of some lost battle; so the French, when they joined the settlers, fought against their old enemy Britain, more for strategy than for revenge, even if history tells so, because the French weakened the power of the British, and won the trust of the settlers, who later they could be their allies. Although the revenge of the French could be a motive, it was beneficial for the 13 Colonies, but also was a good strategy on the part of the French.
