The Boston night transcript letter showed that racism was still pervaded in northern society. The letter stated that the northern papopultion believed that blacks were not ready to live in society, were undisciplined, unintelligent, lacked the knowledge to govern themselves, nor to govern others, because they were by nature the destiny of be governed. The letter also stated that blacks had no notions of citizenship and could not live in society, did not pay attention to due democratic values and for these reasons would always be inferior.
