Yes if staying and staring at screens for long duration of time hurt your body image then so does reading.
1. Physically you still aren't working out or getting exercise instead you are sitting. This affects the fact of minimal calorie use which stops you from losing much wait.(The reason why people think computer hogs or gamers as fat)

2. emotionally the person could be hurt by verbally harassment being called nerd or being made made fun of for the same reason.
