The correct answer is:"Many people died and were injured during the riots".

The Detroit Riots of 1967 were the bloodiest that took place in the so-called "Long, hot summer of 1967", in which 159 riots arose in total throughout the US.

The Detroit Riots were mainly confrontations between groups of black people and police. It all started with a police raid in an unlicensed bar, and ended up with 43 dead and 1,189 injured. The Michingan Army Guard had to be sent into Detroit to stop the conflict, and also some air divisions of the US army. They were the bloodiest and worst riots since the Civil War.
