The novel start with the letter and the explorer was Robert Walton who tells about the human being nature. Walton was a well to do man in English.

Explanation:

Robert has writer summery of letter to his sister, friend etc. Through his letters he reveals the nature of a human being. In the first letter he write her sister Margret Saville. Here in this letter Robert tells about his fear and struggles during voyages.

He tells about his ship headed and preparation for his departure. In his second letter, Robert missed his friends. He was feeling lonely and isolated at his voyages. He feel discomfort and try to find out comfort in the ship with his shipmates.

In letter fourth, Robert tells about how they helped a stranger. All were curious about the man. But Robert know that man still in fragile state. Later on Alton and stranger become friends. Here he tells that how he commence the stranger to become his friend.
