This ancestor of human beings was responsible for the development of tools made of stone and more importantly, the use of fire which has been proved as multiple artifacts and burnt materials that belong to the era in which Homo Erectus lived have been found. Also, it is believed this was the first species in the human lineage that lived in hunter-gatherer societies which allow them to hunt together and that use fire for warmth, protection, and cooking.
