<span>"From 1918 to 1932 the Republican Party was predominant in part because of the profound cultural alienation of Americans after World War I. Warren G. Harding promised a return to "normalcy" (not a word until Harding coined it). Republicans at this time linked themselves to the enduring values of the rural Old America: isolationism, nativism, Protestantism, Prohibition, and protection."

what dangers do you think churchill foresaw that encouraged him to support a second front against europes soft underbelly rather
lorasvet [3.4K]

Answer:

A rather suiting name,"the soft underbelly of Europe". Italy was in good proximity and more vulnerable to their allied forces.

Explanation:

Soviet Premier Joseph Stalin (1879-) had argued an invasion from the west, relieving his army from fighting Germany in the east.

Churchill however saw that it could be less effective to attack through Normandy, France since Italy was in good proximity and could be penetrated easily with the strength and number of their allied forces. He saw they could easily procceed from there and even gain more grounds. His view prevailed.
