"Conservation a National Duty" is a speech done by President Theodore Roosevelt, who served as such during the years 1858-1919, during the proceedings of the Conference of Governors, which took place at the White House, in May of 1908.

The president, in his speech, charges morality, progress and patriotism as a national responsibility. He says: "The natural resources of our country are in danger of exhaustion if we permit the old wasteful methods of exploiting them longer to continue".

Although talking about the importance o conservation, and the part that civilization takes in it, Roosevelt is asking to his audience, to realize the importance of progress, and that there will not be any of it, if the society does not act as a whole, with morality and patriotism.

Mashcka [7]

Exploration of topic on race and gender by Kate Chopin and Anna Julia in "Desire Baby" and "The Higher Education of Women":

Kate Choplin’s ‘Desiree’s baby’ revolves around a young woman Desiree who marries a young man after he offers a great deal of wealth. He considers her as his possession and also doubts her for his cursed fate of having a brown child.

However, the twisted end reveals that his mother was from the ‘brown’ lineage, yet his father loved them both no matter what unlike him. He discriminated his wife and child as he thought their ‘brown’ lineage would bring him shame and rejection.

‘The Higher Education of Women’ is an essay written by Anna Julia Cooper, which idealizes the concept of women education to improve the contributions to the society.

She puts forth the idea of providing educational rights to every woman, especially black woman, to increase the contribution to her race and the whole of humanity.
