The measures of an angle and its supplement differ by 40°. What are the measures of the angles? Hint: an angle and its supplemen

t have degree measures whose sum is 180°.
a. Y + (y − 40) = 180; 70°, 30°
b. 2y + (y + 40) = 180; 40°, 140°
c. Y + (y − 40) = 180; 70°, 110°
d. Y + (y − 40) = 180; 60°, 120

Assume y > x

Let the two angles be x and y

then, x + y = 180° ----------------- (i)

It is given the difference between angles is 40 °

So, y-x = 40

x= y-40

now equation (i) becomes

y-40+y = 180°

2y - 40 = 180°

2y = 220°

y = 110°

As x = y - 40

So x = 110-40

x = 70°

Hence the two angles are 110° and 70°

So the correct answer is option C

Given the function f(x) = 2(3)x, Section A is from x = 0 to x = 1 and Section B is from x = 2 to x = 3.
jeyben [28]

f(0) = 2(3)(0) = 0  ⇒  (0, 0)

f(1) = 2(3)(1) = 6  ⇒  (1, 6)

<u>rate of change from x = 0 to x = 1</u>

\frac{y2 - y1}{x2 - x1} = \frac{6 - 0}{1 - 0} = \frac{6}{1} = 6

******************************************

f(2) = 2(3)(2) = 12  ⇒  (2, 12)

f(3) = 2(3)(3) = 18  ⇒  (3, 18)

<u>rate of change from x = 2 to x = 3</u>

\frac{y2 - y1}{x2 - x1} = \frac{18 - 12}{3 - 2} = \frac{6}{1} = 6

*****************************************

Since it is the same line, they will have the same slope (aka rate of change).

Anit [1.1K]

Answer:

There are 120 1st graders at Sierra Elementary School this year

Step-by-step explanation:

Let n represent the total number of 1st graders at Sierra Elementary School

Since 45% of all 1st graders at Sierra Elementary School are female students and this year there are 54 female 1st graders, 45% of n is equal to 54

→ n(\frac{45}{100}) = 54

→ 45n = 5400

→ n = 120
