Maximize U=ab subject to 2a+b=48

b = 48-2a

U = ab = a(48-2a)

U = -2(a^2 - 24 a) =-2(a^2 - 24 a + 144) + 2(144) = -2(a-12)^2+288

That's clearly maximum when the squared term is zero, so

a=12

b=48-2(12) = 24

U=12(24)=288

Answer: a=12, b=24, max 288

All of Ralph’s ranch land was divided equally among his six children whose daughter land portion of the ranch land was divided a
Nitella [24]

Answer: 1/24 of Ralph's land

Step-by-step explanation:

Ralph gave each of his children a 6th of his land.

= 1/6

Lynn being his daughter got 1/6 of his land. She then shared it to her 4 children.

Children got 1/4 of Lynn's land which is 1/6 of Ralph's land.

Lynn's children therefore got;

= 1/4 * 1/6

= 1/24 of the land

Solve for x in the triangle
A 1.7
B 2.6
C 2.7
D 3.0
11Alexandr11 [23.1K]

Answer:

A

Step-by-step explanation:

Given 2 sides and the included angle use the Cosine rule to solve for x

x² = 1.6² + 1.1² - (2 × 1.6 × 1.1 × cos78° )

    = 2.56 + 1.21 - ( 3.52 × cos78° )

   = 3.77 - 0.7318

   = 3.0382

Take the square root of both sides

x = \sqrt{3.0382} = 1.7 → A
