Charles Darwin was Francis Galton's half-cousin. They were sharing the same grandfather, Erasmus Darwin. Sir Francis Galton was a famous English statistician, polymath, sociologist.


In 1875, Galton started growing sweet peas and he found that group of progeny seeds had a normal curve and the curves were equally dispersed. After these studies, he became the first ever scholar to explain regression toward the mean.
