ngs enough to compete with the King of England. Why was it more difficult for the Dutch East India Company to hold on to its power in the New World? The Dutch East India Company was mainly focused in Asia, not North America. The Dutch East India Company had many decision-makers leading it--the king of England had absolute power. The Dutch East India Company lost interest because they did not settle the region. The Dutch East India Company had too many other issues to deal with at the same time.
