Which ordered pair is the best estimate for the solution of the system of equations? y=−1/2x+4y=1/2x−3
tamaranim1 [39]
If we add the 2 equations the terms in x dssappear and we get

2y = 1
so y = 1/2

Substitute in first equtaion:-

1/2 = - 1/2 x + 4
-1/2 x = 1/2 - 4 = - 7/2
x = -7/2 * -2 =  14/2 = 7

answer is (7, 1/2)

Choice A is the answer

Why? Because we start with 4, which is denoted a_1 = 4, and because we multiply each previous term by -3 to get the next term (which is what the second row of choice A says).
