1.How did Great Zimbabwe rise to power?
gulaghasi [49]

Answer:

1. Great Zimbabwe was an ancient city that was prominent during the 11th and 15th centuries. Reasons to its rise are mainly attributed to the resource richness of the city and the occupied area. The City state was Rich in Gold and Ivory, which gave it a huge advantage during the international trade at the time.

2. This marked the end of the Byzantine era and gave the control of the Constantinople and its valuable trade routes to the Ottomans and the muslims.

Moreover, this forced Europeans to find new sea routes to Asia and became one of the main catalysts for the age of discovery.

3. Safavids and the Ottomans were the most powerful and prosperous states in west Asia. Most of the conflicts were for the control of the land and territory.

The Ottoman plans to expand into Europe was halted because the Safavid empire in Iran grew stronger. This is another reason for ottoman's aggression towards Safavids.

Moreover, there were religion reasons too, Ottomans were Sunni while Safavid were Shiites. Ottomans saw Safavids as heretics!

Cracking down on dissent during world war 1 was part of what larger governmental goal in the U.S?
IRISSAK [1]

The larger goal was uniting Americans around the war effort.

Cracking down on dissent would be a negative action in support of the larger, positive goal the government sought. The government wanted a fully united public in support of the war, and so it put out the message that that freedom of speech might have its limits in times of war.

What were the causes and effects of the scopes trial and racial tension
insens350 [35]

The cause of the Scopes Trial was disagreement about evolution. One side thought that evolution should be taught in schools, while another side said that it shouldn’t. It was also said that teaching of evolution was in violation of Tennessee’s Butler Act which stated that it was unlawful to teach evolution in any state-funded school.

It was purposely meant to also bring publicity, but in the end, John Scopes was fined $100 dollars which is equivalent to over $1000 dollars today. Many of the people and reporters went to the “big-shot” lawyers involved in the case so, the lawyers to morph the truth into anything they wished and the public hung on to their words. One thing it teaches is that we need to look at both sides because one side could be changed to what someone wants.
