First was the Roman Republic, then came the Roman Empire. In the 4th century BCE, the Roman Republic turned to imperialism. After losing a significant battle with the Gauls, a Celtic people, the Romans concluded that in order to sustain safety, they would have to expand their territory so the frontiers would be a good distance from the capital, Rome. They successfully fought a series of wars with other Italian city-states as well as the Carthaginians, achieving their goal. Warfare gave excessive power to the military leaders, weakening the influence of the Senate and thus the democracy became undermined. That is how it was transformed to a vast empire.

Which of these was the BIGGEST disadvantage for settlers wanting to take advantage of the opportunities created by the Land Ordi
Musya8 [376]

Answer:

B) Land speculators were most able to purchase land in the affected areas.

Explanation:

In 1784-1785, the Continental Congress discussed and adopted the first land ordinance, a draft of which was prepared by Jefferson, although the final approval of the ordinance was carried out in his absence. Amendments were made that belittled the Jefferson project, its democratic orientation. Particularly unfavorable was the condition that land can be sold in 640 acre plots at a minimum price per acre of $1. The purchase of such a site was available only to planters or land speculators.
