To solve this, we are going to use the work-rate formula: \frac{1}{t_{1} } + \frac{1}{t_{2}} = \frac{1}{t}
where
t_{1} is the time the teacher takes to grade the homework papers
t_{2} is the time the assistant takes to grade the homework papaers
t is the tame they take to grade the homework papers working together

Remember that there are 60 minutes in in hour, so 1 hour equals 60 minutes; therefore t_{2}=60. We also know that If the teacher helps the grading can be completed in 20 minutes, so t=20. Lets replace those values in our formula:
\frac{1}{t_{1} } + \frac{1}{t_{2}} = \frac{1}{t}
\frac{1}{t_{1} } + \frac{1}{60} = \frac{1}{20}
\frac{1}{t_{1} } = \frac{1}{20} - \frac{1}{60}
\frac{1}{t_{1} }= \frac{1}{30}
t_{1}=30

We can conclude that the teacher will take 30 minutes to grade the homework papers.

Hi! So I got :
-3 —>20
-2 —>13
-1 —>8
0 —>5
1 —>4
2 —>5
3 —>8
I’m sorry if any of these are wrong but In order to find the answers I used the “graphing quadratics” one (don’t know the name so sorry) but yeah first I found the axis of symmetry which was 1 and from there I built a chart and substituted. Again, I didn’t see some answer choices above in the image so sorry if there wrong, but yeah I hope this helped! (This is from algebra 1 by the way)

-10 + 7/4p = -38 (I don't understand this question)
bogdanovich [222]

Answer:

-16

Step-by-step explanation:

-10 + 7/4p = -38  [multiply the entire equation by 4 to get rid of fraction]

-40 + 7p = -152 [add 40 to each side of equation]

7p = -112

p = -112/7 = -16

Two trucks leave a warehouse at the same time. One travels due west at an average speed of 49 miles per hour, and the other trav
Brilliant_brown [7]

Answer:

7.5 hours

Way Number One:

<em>This way uses critical thinking</em>

     These two trucks are traveling in opposite directions (West and East). One truck moves 49 miles every hour, and the other moves 63 miles per hour. Since they are traveling in opposite directions, we do not have to worry about angles or use a distance formula.

     Every hour one truck moves 49 and the other 63. So, if we add 49 to 63 we will get their distance apart after one hour.

-> 49 + 63 = 112 miles

     Now, we want to know how long it will take for them to be 840 miles apart. We can divide 840 by 112 to see how many hours it will take, because every hour the trucks become 112 miles farther apart.

-> 840 / 112 = 7.5 hours

Way Number Two:

<em>This way uses a graphing calculator</em>

     We can turn the distance traveled by each truck into equations. Let y be miles traveled and x be time spent.

First truck, y = 49x

Second truck, y = 63x

     We know their distance apart will be the miles traveld added together, so y = 63x + 49x. Our answer will be x when y is equal to 840. After graphing, we get the point of (840, 7.5)

-> See attached

Have a nice day!

     I hope this is what you are looking for, but if not - comment! I will edit and update my answer accordingly.
