Answer:

total taxable income = $73,000

tax liability = $7,505

Explanation:

Clarice's ordinary income $30,000

Clarice's capital gains:

  • selling of stock = $34,000 - $16,000 = $18,000
  • selling of coin collection = $55,000 - $30,000 = $25,000
  • total long term capital gains = $43,000

Clarice's taxable income = $73,000

Clarice's ordinary income tax rate 2011:

ordinary income = $30,000 - standard deduction $5,800 = $24,200

  • 10% on taxable income from $0 to $8,500  = $850
  • 15% on taxable income over $8,500 to $34,500 = $2,355

ordinary income taxes = $3,205

Clarice's capital gains tax rate 2011 = 10%

capital gains taxes = $43,000 x 10% = $4,300

total tax liability = $7,505

Ivenika [448]

Answer:

The answer is $304,000

Explanation:

Barber's ending equity is:

Barber's beginning partnership capital balance for the current year plus share of partnership net income minus Barber's withdrawal

Barber's beginning partnership capital balance for the current is $314,000

Share of partnership net income

= $152,000 /2

= $76,000

Barber's withdrawal = $86,000

Therefore, Barber's ending equity is

$314,000 + $76,000 - $86,000

= $304,000

Suppose the government decides to enact a new tax on T-shirts. What will happen in the market for T-shirts? (Note: Neither the s
nevsk [136]

Answer:

- The price buyers will pay will be higher

- The tax on T shirts will cause a dead weight loss

- There will be a decrease in T shirts sold

Explanation:

In this scenario when curve for demand and is not perfectly inelastic it means that with an increase in price there is a fall in the amount of a good demanded.

So when tax is imposed on the T shirts the producers will have a higher cost of production. This is transfered to the buyer in form of higher prices.

Since the increase in price reduces quantity demanded, the buyer will buy less T Shirts at the higher price

Dead weight loss is a cost to society as a result of inefficiency non the market.

When taxes are applied supply and demand go out of equillibrum as prices are now higher. Therefore tax imposition causes a dead weight loss.
