In our medical system, the first thing that probably would be done would be to sedate the person with chemical drugs so they wouldn't be a 'problem' whereas what the person really needs is someone to listen with empathy and help them to solve problems that they are preoccupied with ie take them seriously and if hyperactive to perhaps divert their attention or reassure them about the outcome of things they may be worried about.
