Why did Washington and the Federalists support Great Britain when it declared war on France?

History

They didn't REALLY support Britain. Washington himself wished to stay neutral because he feared war would be too much for this new and fragile nation.

The thing is, the Federalists knew opposing the superpower of the world was like a suicide mission. They also had no reason to oppose Britain either.

Your answer would be for economical (and even political) reasons they wanted to stay on Britain's good side. For their own sake.

  • They would have the mentality that they would be "established heirs to liberty" and also that certain everyday routine is democracy.

Answer:

Napoleon failed to conquer Russia in 1812 for several reasons: faulty logistics, poor discipline, disease, and not the least, the weather. Napoleon's method of warfare was based on rapid concentration of his forces at a key place to destroy his enemy.
