Let the years ago was Ethan 5 times older than his son be x According to question, 40 - x = 5(12 - x) 40 - x = 60 - 5x x = 5

ANSWER IS 5

so
how many years ago=x
so
'in how many years ago (-x) was ethan 5 times older than son
40-x means ethan's age x years ago
12-x means son's age x years ago
so
ethan's age x years ago is 5 times as much as son's age 5 years ago

40-x=5(12-x)
distribute using a(b+c)=ab+ac
40-x=60-5x
add 5x
40+4x=60
subtract 40
4x=20
divide 4
x=5

ANSWER IS 5 years

For the dilation, DO, K = (10, 0) → (5, 0), the scale factor is equal to _____. -5 5 0.5 2
ozzi

Answer:

The scale factor of the following dilation is, 0.5

Step-by-step explanation:

The rule of dilation with scale factor k is given by:

(x, y) \rightarrow (kx, ky)

As per the statement:

Given the following dilation:

(10, 0) → (5, 0)                 .....[1]

We have to find the scale factor.

Using the above rule we have;

(10, 0) \rightarrow (10k, 0k)

Now compare this with equation [1] we have;

(10k, 0) = (5, 0)

⇒10k = 5

After solving we get;

k = \frac{1}{2}=0.5

Therefore,  the scale factor of the following dilation is, 0.5

A snack food manufacturer uses 2,000 kg of peanuts to make two different snack products. Product A contains 30% peanuts by mass
GalinKa [24]

Answer: 1250 kg.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x = mass of product A.

y=mass of product B

Then , According to the given statement , we have

0.3x+0.7y=2000-------------(1)\\\\x=3y-----------(2)

Put value of x from (2) in (1) ,we get

0.3(3y)+0.7y=2000

0.9y+0.7y=2000

1.6y=2000

y=\dfrac{2000}{1.6}=\dfrac{20000}{16}=1250

Put value of y in (2) ,we get x= 3(1250)=3750 =mass of product A

Therefore, the mass of product B =1250 kg.
