In the Supreme Court case of Miranda versus Arizona, the Supreme Court rule that confessions cannot be introduced as evidence unless they were offered after police advised the suspect of his or her legal rights was passed. This case took place in the year 1966. It is important that the accused is made aware of his legal rights and not forced to commit something that goes against him or her in the court of law.
