Answer:

a special-purpose map

Explanation:

The map on the image is a special-purpose map. This type of maps depict specific aspects of some area, be it the infrastructure, the natural resources, demographic aspects, and is only focused on one particular thing, while neglecting all other things. In this case, we have a map that shows the natural resources in Africa. More specifically, this map is showing the most important and biggest reserves on the continent. Even though it is a very simplified map, it still manages to give nice representation about the most important natural resources across the continent.

This passage is mainly about
N76 [4]

Answer:

This passage is mainly about asteroids striking Earth.

Explanation:

The presented passage is mostly focusing on asteroids striking Earth. It is something that has been happening since Earth has formed, and it will happen in the future as well. The vast majority of the asteroids don't really have any impact on Earth, but some have an impact that is devastating and long-lasting.

In the earlier stages of Earth, many more asteroids were falling on the surface, and the main reason for that has been the lack of atmosphere or a very thin atmosphere. As the atmosphere started to take shape and became similar to what is nowadays, the asteroid impacts decreased significantly because the atmosphere was managing to burn them and break them apart. This is not possible with all asteroids though, as some are so big and fall under an angle where the atmosphere doesn't really have any impact on them so when they fall on the surface they are able to cause sudden climatic changes, mass devastation, and mass extinction of species. Such an asteroid will be in a direction to hit Earth in the future for sure, the question remains will humans with their technology be able to prevent an impact or not.

Where would you be most likely to find a freshet?
valentinak56 [21]

The freshet is basically a flood that occurs because of heavy rainfall or because of the melting of a snow.

This type of flooding is most common in the valleys of the larger rivers, especially the ones that start their flow high in the mountains.

The large rivers have much more water, and they also have lot of tributaries, so when there's a heavy rainfall they receive enormous amounts of water, which easily causes a flood.

Also, when the snow melts, lot of water is released from it, and most of that water gets into the river, or first in its tributaries and that in it, so there's a high possibility of a big flood occurring suddenly.
